Hey guys! As you might know, I have returned from my long hiatus as of yesterday! If you read my return post, you know that I’ve been getting ready to release my next short story, Divine Heist, in June. However, some complications have come up… I’m not moving the release date or anything, it doesn’t really have anything to do with not being able to post the story parts. It has to do with one of the struggles of being a writer…
Which is having too many stories to write about. I got the idea for this short story last year and have been sitting on it for a while, and it has been surprisingly difficult to work on. I’ve never done anything like it before, so I’m trying to learn how to do a retelling. To make things worse, I got another retelling idea for one of my favorite old Disney movies: Alive in Wonderland. If you don’t know, I’m a little obsessed with that story. I got the idea for a retelling a couple months ago, so this story is much fresher in my mind (and honestly a little more put together than Divine Heist). So now comes my predicament: do I stick to the plan and put out Divine Heist, or do I write something I’ll probably enjoy a little more? Don’t get me wrong, I’m still excited about Divine Heist, I’m just worried that because it’s being difficult for me to write, it won’t be the quality that I’d like you to see (not to mention the extreme writer’s block I’m having with it). So here’s what I’m going to do…a vote!
I’ll share what my Alice in Wonderland retelling would be like, as well as include the link to the Divine Heist reveal, then see what you all would like to see most. And if I don’t get any votes at all, I’m pretty much going to do what I want, haha! So yeah. You can read up about Divine Heist here, and see about my other retelling below…
Alice in Wonderland Retelling –
I don’t have a for sure title for the retelling as of now, but I do have a running synopsis. The release date would still be June 3rd, and it would be a weekly release schedule (but with shorter parts, the same as I would do with Divine Heist). I’ve always wanted to do something with Fae, and when this idea hit me, I was super into it and wanted to start working on it right away. That being said, I’ve kinda gotten writer’s block in every other story I’ve been working on because of this. Basically, it would be about the main character, a Fae girl, stumbling into the past (which would be Wonderland) to see what happen between the Fae and an extinct race of magic-users. While there are a few holes in the story, I have the main story figured out for the most part, and I have to admit it’s kind of cool. I’m really loving the characters, too! Aelis is a Fae girl who can’t seem to fit in with her world. She’s expected to finish her studies at an elite boarding school, only to be married off to someone she doesn’t love. This is the fate of every Fae girl, but Aelis is different. She is shocked when she realizes she has magical powers even after being told her entire life magic was only found in books. However, after opening a portal into the past, she finds the truth is darker than she could have ever imagined.
So with all of that being said, sound off in the comments what sounds more interesting to you! And like I said, if I don’t get any votes I’ll do what I want (which at this point might be the Alice in Wonderland retelling). The deadline for the vote will be tomorrow (Saturday) night. We’ll see what happens!
