Hey guys! A few days ago, I did a Blogmas post on upcoming book releases I’m looking forward to reading. For today’s post, I’m going to be talking about upcoming video game releases I can’t wait to play! Recently, there has been a TON of game announcements, but like I did with the book post, I’ll be narrowing down this list to just five games. Let’s get to it!
Replaced
I saw this trailer at the 2022 Game Awards the other night, and I was instantly intrigued. First of all, I love a good dystopian game. Also, this animation is just gorgeous! It reminds me of Octopath Traveler’s style, which I really love. Right away, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. But if I wasn’t already excited for it, I just learned that this game will be set in an alternate version of the 1980s! If you know me, the you know I am a huge fan of all things 80s (at least, most things 80s, anyway). That is just the cherry on top for this game announcement! This doesn’t have an official release date yet, so I’m going to have to seriously exercise my patience…
Release Date: 2023
Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
I am a giant Legend of Zelda fan, and I’ve been waiting for this game ever since it was first announced (which was like, 10000 years ago? … not really, but it feels like it). Finally we got a release date a couple months ago, but we’ll have to wait and see if it’ll get delayed again or not. I’m keeping my fingers crossed! This one, which is a sequel to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, looks like it’ll be a darker Zelda game (and I’m all here for it!), so I’m curious in seeing where the story goes. Also…I’m getting serious Skyward Sword vibes from it, so I hope we get some callbacks to that game! Legend of Zelda is one of those games that can turn me into a complete kid (literally, when they revealed the first full trailer for this back at the last E3, I was bouncing up and down like a toddler), so I’m ready to revert back to a ten year old and play this game!
Release Date: May 12, 2023
Theatrhythm Final Bar Line
I was high on emotions when I first saw this trailer, mainly because I had also just watched the trailer of Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Crisis Core: Reunion, so by the time I got to this one, I got a little teary-eyed. This game looks like a lot of fun, and hearing all those songs got me all nostalgic! Not only will I be getting this game, but I will also be getting the DLC so I can hear that Chrono Trigger music! I’ve been waiting for anything that has to do with Chrono Trigger (aka the best game in the history of video games, pretty much), so when I heard they were adding some songs from there (some of my favorites, no less), I had a little fangirl breakdown. I can’t wait for this one!
Release Date: February 16, 2023
Fire Emblem: Engage
At first, I can’t say I was all that into this reveal, even though I’ve been waiting for the next Fire Emblem reveal. To be honest, I wasn’t sure how to feel about the design or story of this one. However, the more I see, the more I want to see what it’s all about! It looks like we’ll get some FE characters from the past, namely Marth. I’m a sucker for cameos, so now I want to know who else makes an appearance! Also, this looks a lot like Fire Emblem: Awakening, which is one of my all-time favorite games. I guess we’ll see if I actually end up liking it or not!
Release Date: January 20, 2023
Octopath Traveler II
When I played the first Octopath Traveler, I was blown away by how beautiful it is. To this day I can’t get over that animation! And when I saw this trailer, I knew I’d be getting this second one as soon as possible! I love all the new worlds, especially the Wild West one! The music is just as gorgeous as ever, too! I’m still working my way through the first one, so I’m going to try and beat it before this one releases. From the looks of it, though, I don’t have much time to wait!
Release Date: February 24, 2023
As you can see, the majority of these games are all releasing at the beginning of the year, so I don’t have to wait long. That’s a relief! So what do you think about this list? What games are you looking forward to playing? Let me know in the comments below!
And as always, God bless y’all and have a wonderful day!
