Blogmas Day 21: 5 Games To Play Over The Holidays

Hey guys! For Blogmas day twenty-one, I thought it would be fun to talk about five games that are perfect to play over the holidays! I’ve chosen games that are relaxing and fun, and some of them really give me the Christmas vibes since I once played them over the holidays! Take a look!

Rune Factory 4 Special

Rune Factory 4 Special (Property of XSeedgames)

I played the original Rune Factory two years ago and I loved it! I remember getting it in the mail in November one day after school, and I spent my Christmas break playing it! It is so much fun, and mixes and RPG type story with a farming simulator. The music really gives me the Christmas vibes now! Recently a remastered version of the game released for Xbox, but I ended up getting the Nintendo Switch version (after all that time I spent waiting for it to come on Xbox, but hey, I was hoping it would appear on Game Pass, haha!). Anyway, I think this is the perfect game to play over the holidays, so definitely check out the remastered version (or, you know, get yourself a Nintendo DS and play the the original version?) Also, you can check out the other Rune Factories in the series, too. I still need to play Rune Factory 2, which I got for Christmas two years ago…

Unpacking

Unpacking (Property of Humble Games)

This game really surprised me with how fun it actually is. I first saw the teaser for this game back in June during E3, and it eventually came to Xbox Game Pass. I downloaded it on a whim, but I ended up really loving it! The game is exactly what the title makes it sound like; you just unpack things. The game follows the main character on her journey through life, beginning with her childhood bedroom, then apartments when she’s older, and eventually ends with a whole house. It’s an extremely relaxing game, which was surprising to me since I know some people might really hate the process of moving and unpacking, but I thought it was really fun! Definitely check it out!

Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Property of Nintendo)

I didn’t do any specific Animal Crossing game, since any will be great! I know Animal Crossing: New Horizons is really popular right now, but I think we could share the love for the older instalments, too! My first introduction to Animal Crossing was Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and I’ve really been loving it! I play it a lot with my bestie (Christian Girl Writes!), and she’s actually the one who got me into Animal Crossing in the first place. Last year we got each other presents in the game, and that’s how we were able to had a Christmas “together”. It was really fun, and I look forward to doing it this week too! If you’ve never played any Animal Crossing before, please check it out!

Kingdom Hearts

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX (Property of Square Enix)

If you’ve read my earlier Blogmas posts, you probably expected this to be on the list. But I’m not adding this here just because Kingdom Hearts 2 gives me Christmas vibes! If you haven’t gotten into the Kingdom Hearts series yet, any time is the right time to start! If you love Disney, but want to play an RPG style game, this is the perfect series for you! It had an extremely complex plot that really makes you want to theorize and work things out, and it can get pretty deep! It’s also great for the entire family to play, which isn’t something that a lot of RPGs can boast about! Give it a chance if you haven’t played it before!

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley (Property of Eric Barone)

Last but not least, we have another farming simulator. In this game, you can have your own farm, your own house, you can get married, etc.. I first played it a while back, and I really liked it! It recently got added to Xbox Game Pass, so I’ll be playing it on there now. I really love that it’s a 16-bit game, too! If you want something that has has a lot of playtime value, this is the game for you!

That’s all of them! If you’ve got any other games you think would be good to play over the holidays, let me know in the comments below! I’d love to hear from you! And if you have played any of these games, or hope to, I’d like to know that, too!

God bless y’all and have a wonderful evening!
