Star Wars: BREAKING NEWS

It’s a good week, my fellow Star Wars fans!  Lucasfilm has announced a brand new Star Wars animated series!  After Star Wars Rebels ended, I knew it was only a matter of time before this announcement came.  The anime-inspired series taking place prior to The Force Awakens will be called Star Wars: Resistance and will tell the story of a Resistance pilot named Kazuda Xiono, who is recruited to carry out a top-secret mission to spy on the First Order.  Star Wars: Resistance will be directed by the one and only Dave Filoni!  The Clone Wars and Rebels director said this about the new series…

“The idea for the show came out of my interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots.  My grandfather was a pilot and my uncle flew and restored planes, so that was a big influence.  There’s a long history of high-speed racing in Star Wars, and I think we’ve captured that sense of excitement in an anime-inspired style, which is something the entire team has been wanting to do for a long time.”

Alongside Filoni, Star Wars: Resistance will have some pretty amazing people as its executive producers.  We’ve got Justin Ridge (Clone Wars and Rebels), Athena Portillo (Clone Wars and Rebels), Amy Beth Christenson (Clone Wars and Rebels), and, the producer who I’m pretty exited about, Brandon Auman ( Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).  Not only will Resistance bring in new characters, but they’ll bring in characters such as Poe Dameron (voiced by Oscar Issac), Captain Phasma (voiced by Gwendoline Christie, and BB-8.  Other characters will be voiced by Christopher Sean, Suzie McGrath, Scott Lawrence, Myrna Velasco, Josh Brener, Donald Faison, Bobby Moynihan, Jim Rash, and Rachel Butera.

Star Wars Resistance will air in the fall on Disney Channel and later on Disney XD.  When that time comes, you can expect reviews of each episode right here at Old Jho’s.  What do you think about this announcement?  Let me know in the comments below!
