Star Wars: BREAKING NEWS

Star Wars fans, I have some bad news and some good news.  The bad new is that the directors for the upcoming Han Solo spinoff movie, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have quit five months into production.  This is what the two directors and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has to say about the ordeal…

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project,” said Lord and Miller.  “We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliche is true.  We really are proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew.”

“Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways,” said Kennedy.  “A new director will be announced soon.”

The Han Solo movie was set to be released in eleven more months, and I wondered if they would delay it.  But with the good news, they might not have to.  The good news is that a new director for the film was revealed a few days ago.  The director will be Ron Howard.  I best know Howard from watching “The Andy Griffith Show”, so to me, this will be interesting to see how this will all work out.

“I’m beyond grateful to add my voice to the Star Wars Universe after being a fan since 5/25/77,” Howard wrote.  “I hope to honor the great work already done and help deliver on the promise of a Han Solo movie.”

I never was all that excited for the Han Solo spin-off until recently.  But really, when are we going to a Darth Reven or Old Republic spin-off?  Maybe next time?  Anyway, what are your thoughts on the Han Solo movie losing its directors and gaining a new one?  Let me know in the comments!
